Lord Provost Sir Thomas Mitchell DL LLD JP (1869 – 1959)

Lord Provost Mitchell was instrumental in the establishment of the Air Cadets in Aberdeen. He was appointed Honorary President of the Aberdeen Cadet Council (March 1939) and Honorary President of 107 (Aberdeen) Squadron in May 1939. The early meetings of the Aberdeen Cadet Council were held in the Town House and were presided over by the Lord Provost.

Sir Thomas Mitchell was Lord Provost of Aberdeen from 1938 to 1947.
